Hobby projects - September 2020
This is a quick run-down of the hobby projects that I’m working on, or planning to start working on over the next month. The plan is to make this into a monthly series to document what I’m hoping to achieve each month, and then review how much of that I actually got done.
1. 1. Kharadron Overlords
My Kharadron Overlords are my third Age of Sigmar army. I’ve
got around 2000 points painted up already, but I have some more I want to do
before I’ll call them finished. My plan is that they’ll be my main
‘competitive’ AoS army for the next year or so (I’m not a very competitive AoS
player, but I’d like to go to some events once covid-19 allows, and this is
probably the army I’ll take). They’re a very vanilla army with no conversions
or anything, but they’ve been fun to paint.
Ambition for September: Paint a second frigate, and repair
my first which has a broken flying stand.
2. 2. Ghost Dwarves
My ghost dwarves are my next Age of Sigmar army project:
they’re a narrative army based around the concept that long ago, an army of
dwarves marched to war against a Sylvaneth grove, and never returned. Now the
grove is threatened by Chaos, and the ghost dwarves have risen to fight
alongside trees, and defend their final resting place. I’ve got about 600
points painted so far, and I’m planning to do a series of posts documenting the
army as I take them forwards.
Ambition for September: Paint 10 irondrakes. I have some
ideas for some fun conversions for the army, but I want to get some more of the
infantry out of the way first before I start doing the larger models.
3. 3. Armies on Parade
I’ve never done Armies on Parade before, but I’d like this
to be the year I do. Games Workshop have announced that it be an online event
this year, taking place in November, so I have a couple of months to prepare.
I’m planning to enter with my Tempest’s Eye army: the army is painted already,
but I’ll need a display board for them. It will be my first display board so it
probably won’t be anything too ambitious, but hopefully it’ll be a good
learning experience and then I can up my game next time round.
Ambition for September: Plan my display board, and get
together the materials I’ll need to make it.
It looks like being a very Age of Sigmar focused hobby
month, but that’s because I spent most of August painting Necromunda and
Warhammer Underworlds models, so I want to catch up on my AoS backlog now.
